The Garden at TMA: Teaching Sustainability

At Triangle Montessori Academy, seeds are planted not only in the soil of our garden but also in the minds of our children.

We believe the best hope for learning to live sustainably comes from schooling that is immersed in nature. Our students experience the natural world in our beautiful gardens so they can learn first-hand how nature sustains life. Our educators demonstrate the implications of the means by which we feed and provide for ourselves.

We instruct on environmental issues and the impact these young men and women will have on our world’s health. Students are motivated to develop critical thinking skills, build global awareness and engage in positive solutions for a sustainable future. TMA is a green and eco-friendly school committed to creating a sustainable future through education with the garden as a teaching tool. We offer our students lessons in ecology, biodiversity, and conservation. As our children move on from their Montessori education at TMA, we are confident they will be individuals that will be aware of ecological issues and will strive to make a difference in our sustainable future.

Triangle Montessori Academy is a Cary preschool emphasizing art, mathematics, practical life, Spanish, yoga, meditation, and music. The private, year-round school was founded in 2008 and accepts children from 18 months old up to six years old. The school is a member of the American Montessori Society and all teachers are AMS-certified. Students at the school are exposed to Montessori-style teaching approaches, including individual learning according to each child’s style and pace, multi-age classrooms that allow children to advance when they are ready, and a nurturing of students’ natural curiosity.
