Guiding Your Child By Saying No

Guiding Your Child By Saying No
As a parent or caregiver, we have the responsibility to be a guide for our children, and sometimes that will include saying “no”. This article perfectly shares how, when, and to what you say “no” to.  There are instances where you have to say “no” to certain behaviors or requests, but that does not make you a bad parent. Instead, it is the exact opposite! By saying “no” you are giving your child a boundary, and being a role model for them. Children should be independent within their environment as much as they can but still need their caregivers to show them the way. This article also beautifully explains what we should say “no” to. Making sure to say “no” to the action or request instead of the child is important for building their confidence, and reminding them they are still loved and treasured. Instead of seeing “no” as something bad or scary, begin to look at it as a guide for your child.
